Rotavirus infections can be seen as part of other conditions, including:
 
  • Kawasaki syndrome (a condition usually seen in children under fives years of age that affects the skin, lymph nodes, mouth, and throat)
  • Reye's syndrome (a condition that can cause serious damage to the brain and liver)
  • Encephalitis
  • Aseptic meningitis
  • Intussusception
  • Hemolytic uremic syndrome (a condition that can cause short-term kidney failure)
  • Crohn's disease.
