Common Signs and Symptoms of Giardia
Symptoms of
Giardia may either begin gradually or develop without warning. They generally occur one to two weeks after initial exposure to the
Giardia parasite.
Although symptoms vary from person to person, common ones include:
- Diarrhea
- Flatulence or gas
- Abdominal (stomach) pain
- Upset stomach or nausea.
The symptoms of chronic Giardia, a more serious form of the intestinal illness, include:
- Increased gas (flatus)
- Loose stools
- Burping
- Dehydration.
